Why doesn’t my dog come when I call? I understand that you may having this problem, whenever you call your dog to come and it doesn’t come. This is very common and it happens all the time. I will show you 2 simple and effective tips to teach your dog come, when it’s being called.
1 – BE HAPPY AND POSITIVE WHEN YOU CALL YOUR DOG !
Dogs react to the tone of our voices and our body language. Whenever you call your dog to come make sure, the tone of your voice, sound pleasant and happy. Most dog will be attracted to high pitch and energetic tone of yours. Secondly, portray an excitement and welcoming body gesture to your dog. This will make your dog feel excited and curious to come over.
After your dog have come to you, reward him with some juicy treats! I would recommend you to have some treats in your pocket at all time, so you can practice this anytime. Note that, you do not want to show him the treat, when you calling him to come. As you don’t want him to be food dependent.
2 – DO USE THE COME COMMAND WRONGLY
There will be times that your dog may destroy your furniture or tare up the tissue box and etc. Normally what people would do is to, call their dog to come to the damaged spot and punish their dog from there.
**Do that note that, never punish or scold the dog following a come command. This misuse of command will cause the dog to be afraid and be reluctant to respond to your call in the future.
